change in heart.

The author influenced my perspective on mental handicaps in a positive light; it's to take every chance you get. I believe that the author's opinion on mental handicaps is that everyone deserves the right to be happy, even if you're disabled. Yes, the novel has given me a different outlook on the mental handicaps; it’s brought me to realize that there’s more than meets the eye. I’m someone who’s so quick to judge but, I’ve come to realize that it's what's on the inside that counts. I've also realized that I should treat others the same way I’d want to be treated. I don’t think much has changed in the way mental handicaps are treated. It's just one of those things that can't be avoided because, not everyone cares if they hurt someones feelings or not. I think that it's becoming more involved in schools, where mental handicaps are aloud to go to school with children without disabilities. I don't think it has had much affect in the job area but, I think if a company were to hire mental handicaps they'd be doing tasks that they'd be able to handle. No matter what though, they should be treated like any other human being.

  1. I love this post! All of this is so true Paige! I agree, And I think that the author truly did write this novel as a learning lesson for everyone who and or will encounter a disabled person. They are people just like you and me. They deserve to be treated like normal people because that is who they are. If anything, I believe that disabled people have the biggest hearts. They deserve the best. God created them like that for a reason. <3
