Rebellion agianst Society: Courtney Hanneman

In the Novel " The Catcher in The Rye" Holden basically rebels against himself, because he never tries in school and he even said so himself when he told Mr. Spencer at the beginning of the book when he wrote on his essay at the bottom that he didn't really know what to write about cause he didn't pay attention in class that, that was all he could write about and that Mr. Spencer could fail him. in another case his parent's done talk to him and tell him how hard he needs to try or discipline him so he learns that he really needs to try and get good grades because as long as you try and know that you did everything you could that is what means the most. Because his parents don't talk or try to communicate with him that has a huge effect on him not getting good grades, because everyone in his family is smart and he probably feels like he doesn't belong due to the fact that he isn't as smart as everyone in his family.The effect this has on society is that because he isn't trying it puts pressure on other people like the school teachers, principles etc to help him become better at school but because he doesn't care and isn't willing to try it hurts him and others around him because he has to move to another school which means he has to meet knew people and because he doesn't have that communication very much with his family means its harder for him to make new friends.

Holden Cauflield strange boy

I the Novel of The catcher and the rye Holden is completely against people being phony. he always bashes on the prep kids and the smart kids because her thinks they are all fakes. but really when Holden constantly lies is he being any different? Holden faces a serious problem of being a hypocrite throughout the novel as he always does dome of the things he says he hates most. As far as mental instability goes i do believe Holden is a bit unstable in the fact that he is always depressed and excommunicates himself from the outside. I believe Holden is having a hard time coping with the death of his brother and the fact he was kicked out of yet another school. I think he is wary of what to expect from his parents and can not decide how to feel about any situation. Holden shows how he is unstable throughout the novel with his constant swearing and being judgmental of almost everything he sees. He is also very hungry for attention from a woman. Why? I think Holden is trying to cope with his loneliness by replacing it with some idle figure in his life as such random woman he wants to have sex with. So far i dislike Holden and everything about him in the novel.

Rebellion Against Society by Tori DeSira

In the novel "Catchers in the rye" Holden rebels basically against his life he doesn't try hard at all in his schooling. He has failed out of four different schools because of his lack of care for his education. Holden comes against as a lazy guy because if he showed interest in anything he would succeed more in the things he does. Holden also rebels against his family by not trying in school because of his siblings being a lot smarter than him. Also by not keeping in contact with his family and not wanting too visit him, knowing that they will be mad for him leaving school and not succeeding in school.

This rebellion makes him have depressing thoughts about being compared to his smart sister and brother. It results in him just not trying in school because he knows he will never be as good as his brother. Holden needs too stop comparing himself too his family members, because he is his own person and he downgrades on himself when he knows he won't ever be as smart as his family. I believe he would try a lot more in his education if he got the support that he needed from his family.

Holdens life is ful of lonelyness. I feel he does it to him self. Its not that he needs to be like everyone else. Any one can be who they want and can be as different as they want; its good to have veriety. But every one is different and not very many people are lonely. If he would go to the football games it would give him a chance to make a friend or two because you can talk to people and you can be around people. Its his choice to be lonely. Yes his brother died and hes sad about it but it shouldnt be a reason why hes lonely. He has other options and ways to not be lonely. Ackley isnt the person Holden really wants as a friend but Ackley cares about Holden and thinks of him as a really good friend. So Holden isnt exactly lonely. I feel the theme is that you can be lonley but you should blame no one but yourself. yes it is sad but you have oportunitys that are always given to you to be involved in a group of friends or a organization or like a friday night football game with pleny of people to be come friends with. Or maybe the theme is its easy to get sucked into lonelyness and so dont get sucked in. if that makes any sence. :)

which on is better

i really think that flowers of Algernon and of mice of men are very both really good books. but i personally liked flowers of Algernon more. the reason i liked more is because it was way more in depth than mice of men. in mice of men they were talking about lennie and George alot about there dreams. in flowers of Algernon charlie was mentally slow. he was beaten for being slow. like how his mother didnt want him because he was not normal. in the mice of men lennie and george.

Dylan Coffman Week 5 Post

In the book Catcher in The Rye, Holden is a kid who runs away from all his problems. I think that he has to grow up soon because running from everything is not always going to work, he needs to start trying in school since he is being put through a great school. and if his parents dont see the improvement, they need to stop supporting him so he can really see how bad the life of being broke is and living with nothing, because if he was to ever get a job he wouldnt even be able to keep it i dont think because he doesnt like doing his job in school so what do you think he would do if he was ever to get a job, skip it and just get fired. If he doesnt grow up soon he will be living with nothing. Holden also needs to not put himself down all the time and look at his siblings and be like "i wish i was them"
