In the book Of Mice And Men the author John Steinbeck has given us a look at what it is like for mental handicap people that live in the early 20th century were like. I think that he has portrayed a very good image to what they do to people like that and how they react to things that we can already cope with. It seems like they are just like everyone else and they are just trying to fit in but they are a little slow with a lot of things if you try to do to much with them. I think Steinbeck thinks that handicap people can do bad things without meaning to but really they are just very nice people and they just want to have someone there for them. I have always felt bad for people with disabilities but I still know that they are just normal people with some problems and they want to be treated normally. They just want to know that people will be there for them and I am always looking to help anyone in anyway that I can. People back then were not felt bad for, like as much as they are now because they didn't really know what they were going through and how things affected them as much as George and Slim knew, Curly just didn't care he just didn't like him cause he was bigger than him and he should of taken the time to see what he was really like.
I would have to agree with you because throughout the book, you see Lennie as likable albeit dimwitted but all in all a good person. Even though he's done some things that have got him run out of town he never really meant any harm. Even when Curley was punching Lennie he didn’t do anything to defend himself until George told him too and then accidentally went overboard by breaking Curley’s fist. But it is at this point you see that he can be dangerous even if he would never intentionally harm another living thing. He allowed Crook and Curley’s wife to relieve some of their pent up anger they had because of the way people treated them. While Crook was kind of cruel to Lennie, Lennie didn’t really understand what Crook was saying. Lennie is one of the only people that they can make fun of that wont do anything about it.
