I can see myself identifying a lot with George in the way that he is always trying to protect Lennie. No matter what Lennie does he is always willing to forgive and he helps Lennie to get along with the other guys. Also, he never leaves Lennie behind and he is always willing to stick with him. I believe this is a positive reaction because I always try to be there for my friends in a time of need and I try to never hold a grudge.
This book should be read in high school because for one it is a classic and two it has a lot of good life lessons that society should learn about. We really need to become more aware of stereotypes and racism. Even though there isn't as much racism as there was back then, it's still good to learn from our past mistakes. I feel that the book, The Outsiders, really relates to the book, Of Mice and Men, because of the way the characters are always trying to fit into a group. Just like Ponyboy and his brothers are trying to fit into their school and get along, Lennie and George are at a new ranch and they are trying to fit in with the workers.
