PREZIS are COOL

The presentations so far have been pretty good and educational. Some of the presentations were a little disturbing, but the presenters were just doing their jobs, and informing us about their topics. I have not presented yet. But, from what I have seen, I should not be nervous about it. Everyone has seemed to be very relaxed up there in front of the class.
I really liked the prezis, they were fun to watch and kept everyone interested in the presentation. However, I did not do a prezi because when I went on the site, it looked really difficult and complex, kind of scaring me away, and aiming me back towards a regular boring powerpoint. The next time I do a presentation though, I'll most definitely consider doing a prezi instead of a powerpoint slide show.
My favorite presentation so far was on Friday, by Megan Sheridan. She did a prezi, and it was very well organized and interesting, keeping everyone on track. Not only was her prezi well put together, but she did well making eye contact, and putting the right words together to give the audience her message, clearly stating her thesis.
My research project is on animal-assisted therapy. I knew a little bit about it before I had started my research, but I was still surprised how much animals can help in almost every kind of therapy, including occupational, physical, emotional, and mental therapy, and increasing educational abilities. One kind of occupational/physical therapy that I found out about was hippotherapy. Hippotherapy is basically horse therapy. Horses are used as a way to improve posture, and are also good for emotional and mental purposes. Animals are naturally therapeutic to humans. Pets listen, they do not give unwanted feed back, and they do not hold anything against you. Animals are always ready for loving affection, and that is part of the reason they are so therapeutic to the human mind.

  2. I completely agree with you Rachel. I also considered doing the prezis but again like you I like to consider myself technologically incapable. The prezis were very well organized and interesting to look at unlike the power points although people like you and I used power point and they were still interesting. Seeing as you presented today I thought you did very well and you didn't seem nervous all. Even though you didn't volunteer and you got called out for talking like usual. Opps, well you did I nice job. Also I agree that you said Megan Sheridan did well, I also think she did a nice job explaining her topic. She was clear and persuasive. The other thing that you said about a couple topics being disturbing was also true. Although some videos and statistics were a little hard to view and think about it was all an eye opening experience.

  3. Rachel. I completely agree with the title of your post. I though that the Prezis were pretty cool! I had never heard of prezi before all of these presentations began. I think that it is a very cool and interesting way to display information. It also helps keep the audience interested because of how there is so much stuff going on in the Prezi. The only problem that I have with it is that it seems like it would be very difficult to make a Prezi. I don't know if I would like taking the time to learn how to do that or just to simply make one. I am more of a classic power point kind of guy. I feel that they are just easier to make and they are just as effective. But overall, watching the Prezi's is definitely pretty cool! I also agree and think that the presentations so far have been very informational and very useful!
