My presentation was about using horses for therapy. Horses have been used for over 50 years for therapy. Lots of kids with disabilities like to use horses because it’s a great way to build up confidence and when a kid is around a horse it changes their brainwave patterns. It makes them more relaxed and they are able to listen to instructions better and also they have to gain trust with the horses in order for the horses to listen to the them. I showed a video about this little girl, when she was born, she had to get both legs taken off and the doctors said she wouldn’t ever be able to walk. The parents were determined to get her to walk so they got her fit for legs and then used horses to help build her strength. After about 2 years of training a miracle happened and she was able to walk. It just proves how much horses really can help you in a time of need. Also, lots of adults use them to learn about how they are treating people. A horse will not listen to you if you aren’t treating it right or you don’t approach it right. So, it’s a great way to learn if you treating someone with the right amount of respect and also to work on your leadership skills.
My presentation I think went really well, I would like to think that all the students enjoyed my prezi. I would have to say the hardest part about the presentation was that I wasn’t quite sure what to put into my presentation until the last day when we got the rubric and saw what we were graded on.
I thought your presentation was really good and I learned a lot about your topic. I never have heard about using horses for therapy before, but now that you had your presentation, it makes more sense, especially when it helped that little girl to walk. I also never knew being with horses helps build relationship skills; I thought that was cool. Also when you are riding a horse, it never occurred to me that you have to be strong enough to ride one and riding horses helps to build muscles you never knew you had. It must have been an interesting topic to research because I have never heard about it until now. I think it is pretty fun learning about something you have never heard about before. I will probably research a topic I do not know much about next time so I can learn something new like learning about horses for therapy from your presentation.
ReplyDeleteHey Colleen :) You did such a good job during your presentation! You didn't seem nervous and you talked very clearly! Good Job Girl! Before your presentation of horses for therapy i never knew it could help people walk and just help them mentally to. That video of the little girl made me want to cry because i felt bad for her because she had a hard time walking. I am so happy though that she eventually could walk :) I also never knew like what Brianne said is that riding a horse helps you build muscle and that you have to be strong to ride it. I'm glad you chose that topic because first i know how much you love horses and second no one else did that topic so it showed people something new that I'm sure not a lot of people knew about! Great job, I give you an A++ ha ha :)
