The Host

I chose the book The Host for my new novel. This book is about spirits (or aliens) taking over the earth and replacing souls in bodies of humans. A new spirit named Wanderer has been put in the body of a girl named Melanie who refuses to leave her body. Since they do not know how she is still holding on, Wanderer must listen to Melanie daily as she tells her how much she dislikes her. Wanderer has been giving the task of finding any humans who have not been taken over and when she does she must bring them back for their souls to be extracted. On her journey of finding these humans Melanie shows her memories of the loved ones that are still alive. Her brother Jamie and her lover Jared. Wanderer feels the passion that Melanie feels for Jared and wants so much to meet him and love him for herself. On her way to find him she gets kidnapped by those humans still left and meets new characters like Jeb and Ian, and as well as finally meeting Jared. Some think she is a traitor and others believe she is no harm, but the longer she stays with these new people the more she wants to stay with them and start a new life.
