these two novel show the different ways that the mentally disabled are treated differently the regular people. i thought the overall best book was flowers for Algernon. This book showed the difference of mentally retardation and a genius in the same person and how that person can see how he used to be treated before he wasn't smart. In the book of mice and men it just was a story about a 2 men one mentally disabled and one that was just caring his weight for him finding him jobs whenever he screwed up a job feeding him taking care of him in ever way. now this only shows how most mentally disabled people cant take care of them self and that they only cause trouble for the person that has to take care of them. In flowers for Algernon i shows more about how people treat you different when you have a different IQ. It also shows what type of a person you can become when you go threw with brain surgery. A great example of this would be just the way he acts after he gets smarter and smarter this could be the effect of his mental age increasing but it is still what messed him up from being so happy to being kinda mean and self centered.
