Week 3, Tyler E

In the book Flower for Algernon by Daniel Keyes the character that has the voice is only Charlie's, because this is his journal and you only hear what he says or what he says people said. Of what Charlie says it sounds like Alice says the most to Charlie and has the biggest influence on him and all of the other characters say very little that is important. Charlies voice changes through out the book to tell about characters and about himself, his vocab and spelling changed very much when he had the surgery done to him, he changes his voice to talk for the other characters in the book, such as Alice, Fay, Norma, his Mom, ect. I think that the book would be completely different if the other characters could speak for themselves, because they would be able to say what they think about Charlie themselves, because if Charlie is just writing it down at the end of the day he may miss some parts and not remember some other things of what that persons said. The Characters would also be able to explain things more and the reader would then be able to better understand it than how it's understood in the first person.
