Week 3

Flowers for Algernon showed power as the significant theme throughout the novel. Charlie finds himself searching for this treasure even as he has gained his intelligence. In the beginning of the book Charlie had no clue if people were treating him the way he should be, he just always gave people the respect they deserved. This made Charlie the low man on the totem pole with most other adults in most other adult situations. Until Dr. Nemur gave Charlie the opportunity to use his unfound gift of intelligence people would walk all over him, especially at his job. But you begin to see Charlie more confident in the way he approaches situations making him a more powerful person.
