Week 3 post
In the novel Of Mice and Men there is a constant power struggle on the ranch between the Characters . George seems to have all the power in the beginning because he is always commanding Lennie about what to do. Lennie doesn’t seem to have people who know him closely like George but for people who do not know Lennie, he has power over them because of his tremendous size. One character who seems to have the most power on the ranch is Slim. He seems to have a great power and he is very modest, and that seems to make him even more powerful. Everyone on the ranch looks to him for approval including Curly. The character I believe that has lost their power is Curly. Curly is the boss’s son and when he and Lennie get in a scuffle and Lennie gets him pretty good. Curly loses his power by picking on Lennie. The power Curly has comes from the fact that curly is the boss’s son other reasons are that he wears high heeled boots to make him taller and more powerful. As is mentioned in the novel fighting big men makes Curly feel more macho and controlling.
