Week 4, Troy Schott

I really enjoyed Flowers for Algernon a lot more than Of Mice and Men. In my opinion, Flowers for Algernon was without doubt a better story and more exciting book than Of Mice and Men. It wasn’t that I thought that Flowers for Algernon was a great book or super exciting, but Of Mice and Men was probably the most boring thing I have ever had to read for school. Of 106 pages, it took about 100 pages for me to get interested at all. There was seriously no suspense till the very close of the book. At the same time that I think Of Mice and Men was a really boring book, I thought Flowers for Algernon was pretty interesting and entertaining. It was a really original idea by the author.

I think that Lennie and Charlie are almost exactly alike. Both are mentally challenged, at least for a time. Also, both appear to be very kind. I think that this is kind of a stereotype by both authors; they seem to think there is a relationship that the less smart you are, you also become more friendly or innocent. I do not think that that is necessarily and accurate label.
