Comparing the Two Novels Tori DeSira

I thought both Novels Flowers for Algernon and Mice of Men were both great books. I think Flowers for Algernon grabbed my attention more, with the drama that it involved and intellectual problems it had with Charlie. The book made me realize how people with intellectual problems have too live their life and the stresses that come with the disability. The novel says that if your not smart you have a mental disability and don't fit in with everyone else.
There are many different characters portrayed in the novel one being the controlling wife that dictates what Charlie's dad does with his life. And Charlie the main character that is treated like a ginny pig tested on after a surgery and has too continue with progress reports that he doesn't like and realizes after he is smart that he didn't realize how he was being treated by his peers and doctors.
The characters convey the message of intelligence because the mother is a big roll that she punish Charlie for not being normal like his sister and also for him embarrassing her. The message from her showed that intelligence is everything from her. When really it shouldn't matter how smart you are Charlie was the same person even when he was smart he should be treated the same and with more respect.
