Dylan Coffman WEEK 3 post.

i think that the use of power in the book flowers for algernon is a key element used in the story. the doctor nemur used his power which was smartness over charlie to influence him to do their experiment to test the cure for mental illnesses. charlie followed and believed everything nemur said because nemur is a doctor and is very smart compared to charlie, and charlie is very gullible. all that charlie ever wanted was for his parents to love him and the reason i think he actually went through with the surgery because he wanted his mother to love him. And nemur made this all sound like it was possible and charlie is greatly influenced by him. As charlie begins to become smarter than the people that are around him nemur notices that it would be crazy if this where to actually stay this way. Then he decides to tell charlie that the surgury is not going to stay like this that it will eventually regress and be worse than he was before he ever even tryed the brain surgery to make him smarter.
