Compare the two novels. Which did you like better and why? What does each novel say about intelligence and society's expectations of people? Compare characters portrayed in each? What role do the characters play in conveying the author's message about intelligence?
Bewtween 'of mice and men' and 'Flowers of algernon' i liked of mice and men because i could actually read it and understand it the first time. In flowers of algernon Charlie could not spell in the beginning so i couldnt understyand the reading material until late rin the book when he was intelligent enough to write with out misspelling words that were so far off even my mom couldnt figure out. In of mice and men it appealed to me, i enjoy the great depression era and the histroy that goes with it i dont what it is but material covering that subject i want to read about it. Another thing that i liked about Of mice and men is that the book could have actually been real. In Flowers for arganon theres no way that the story could have been real, first of all we dont even have that kind of surgery now let alone years and years ago. In those books the authors in my eyes have shown just because an individual is slow or retarded they are still sweet and caring people so many these days look and treat people that are lesser then an average brain like they are freaks.
