13 reasons why

My choice novel is thirteen reasons why.  I’m not going to lie, in a way this book is really freaky.  It’s about how this girl named, Hannah, kills herself and right before she does she records seven cassettes about why she is killing herself.  She claims that there are 13 people who caused her to kill herself and she goes through the story of each.  Also, before she kills herself she drops a map in to each of the victim’s locker that said “save this”.  How it works is in order of the people’s stories she tells, is the way they are supposed to be mailed on, so each person in the stories gets to listen.  So she sent it to the first person and the then that person sends it to the second person and so on.  The last person in her stories gets to keep the tapes and she says she hopes they go to hell with them.
As she is telling her stories and reasons, the listener is supposed to follow around with the map she gave them.  Sometimes it’s really freaky because for example, one time she was telling a story about how this guy use to watch her and take pictures through her window and so as she tells this story, she stands outside this guy’s house and watches him.  Or sometimes she will make the comment that she hopes she is standing right behind you watching you as you listen to the tapes and so it makes the people feel uncomfortable.

  1. I'm really excited to read more in this book. It’s one of those books that makes you want to keep reading; in a way it’s kind of suspenseful. I completely agree with you about it being creepy when she says things about being behind them and watching them. If this book was a true story I feel like it would be even scarier. I really like how they added the map in with the story because it gives you more to connect to. The part when Hannah is outside the kid’s window who peeped on her really makes me wonder how he felt when listening to the tape and how hard it probably was to mail the tapes to the next person. How do you think Clay is going to react when he realizes that he is the thirteen person? I feel like he is not going to know how to react because as of right now in the novel he has no idea what he did to be in the tapes. Overall, I think it’s going to be a really good ending and I’m curious to find out what else happens!

  2. That sounds like a great book to read! I've heard about it but never took the time to read it. I've don't personally know anyone who has successfully commited suicide but its always the same question. Why? Why would they do it? What was so horrible in their life? So reading a book about it would be kind of cool I guess, to get someones perspective on why they think someone would do it. I know someone who tried but failed and they just are so mentally unstable. They used to be the happiest person that I've ever known in my life, and we stopped talking for a few months and it's scary how different they are. Some people just can't control it. It's a depression that just takes over their mind and the way they live. It's just unhealthy and unreal. It's actually quite scary, like I said no one really understands it but knowing someone that has attempted is scary. Now its just the constant fear of losing them because of that one time of being successful.
This story seems like it takes it to the next level though because she haunts the people that haunted her while she was living. It's kind of errie.
