Nothing to Lose week 7 Peter V

After looking at a handful of different good books suggested by Mrs. Marble, I decided to read Nothing to Lose by Alex Flinn. I chose this book because I read the first page and it talked about a jury selection where a woman is accused of beating her husband to death. Then her son also disappeared soon after the alleged homicide. I thought this book would be about solving this case. But Nothing to Lose is really about Michael Daye, a 17-year-old boy, who runs away from home after he killed his stepfather, while his mother took the blame for it. Michael finds refuge at a traveling carnival and also falls in love with a fellow carny, Kirstie. But then Michael finds out his mother is put on trial for the murder of his stepfather. He must decide whether to stay with the carnival and Kirstie, or come back to Miami to defend his mother. The story sounds like it will be a sad one but I am still eager to see what Michael decides to do. Hopefully he makes the right decision and defends his mother. How could you let your own mother get falsely accused for the murder of somebody you killed?

  1. woman is accused of beating her husband to death. Then her son also disappeared soon after the alleged homicide. why didnt i pick this book to read, thanx marble, jk i like mine too.i like books with mystery and crimes, so this book seems to be just this. Also a kid our age running awasy for home and other problems. this could lead to a lot of good, outgoing disussions. good choice of a novel pete, let me know what happens.
