week 8

Monster is about a boy who go and robs a store with his friends he was the lookout but he when his friends were robbing it one of them killed the store clerk and they got arrested and got put in jail and now he is on trial for murder and armed robbery. The lawyer against him wants them to have the death penalty. He is afraid of the trail and also the jail. He is afraid that he is going to get hurt also he is afraid he is going to change him when he gets out of there. He does not like how there isn’t much privacy in there with the toilets also he cries during the night when it is covered up by all the yelling at night so that way he will not look weak in front of everyone else so that way he will not get beaten up for being weak. His friend and him hang close in there so they will not get in trouble so they can watch each other’s back. He also has a flash back of when he was younger throwing rocks while he is on trial for murder and robbery.

    Ian that sounds like an interesting book. I'm not surprised that the boy from your book is afraid to go to prison. All the reasons you from your book mentioned made sense and are very reliable to real life situations where kids that are 18-20 get put in prisons with adults that have been hardened by the prisons. Young kids are always changed when they are put in prison at a young age for a long time they see things that most people on the outside will ever see. I agree when you say that he doesn't want to be beaten up for looking weak when he cries, you always see things like that on those shows that talk about what really happens inside of prisons. People are always being beat up for stupid reasons, must have something to do with the laws of prisoners set for themselves. That's a good idea that kid had to stay close to his friend so they can watch each others backs, that rule really applies everywhere and not just in prisons, you never know what could happen in the streets cuz. That sounds like a really interesting book it sounds like something I might like.
