The novel that I chose is Inside Out by Terry Trueman. This book is similar to Flowers for Algernon and Of Mice and Men because each main character has a mental disability. Zach, the main character of Inside Out, has a difficult time understanding people's emotions much like Charlie did. Zach is similar to Lennie because they both don't know how to handle themselves in serious situations. Lennie doesn't know how to stop attacking things when they are hurt, and Zach has a problem with taking robbers seriously. The beginning of Inside Out occurs in a bakery. The bakery is in the process of getting robbed and Zach talks to the robbers like they are his friends. I chose to read this novel because it is short, has a good storyline, and Mrs. Marble suggested it.
