Novel Of Choice; Week 7
I chose, The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time by Mark Haddon, for the novel of choice. The novel is about Christopher, who's a fifteen year old boy with an autistic spectrum condition. His mother, Judy, has recently died so, he lives with his father. He discovers the body of his neighbors dog, Wellington, who's been speared by a garden fork. The dog's owner, Mrs. Shears, then calls the police; when the policemen arrive he touches Christopher, who then hits the officer. He gets arrested and then is later released with a cation. He decides to investigate the dogs mysterious death, even though his dad tells him to stay out of other peoples business. I picked this novel because, I felt like related to many of the other books we've read. It relates well to the other novels because, of his disability. All three of the novels we've read the main characters have all had a disability of some sort. I think the character that Christopher relates to the most is probably Charlie, although Chris has more of the brains but is lacking in the social are like Charlie. I'm excited to continue reading the novel to see how it all pans out in the end.
