I think that is bologna! A person can definitely change society. They may not change everyone's mind but they can have a huge effect on a lot of different people. I do not think that Holden has the want or the care to change society because all he does is judge and criticize it. But for example Lady GaGa really changed the whole music industry. She was herself and she was crazy. She spoke up and said you are who you are and there is not a thing wrong with that. Holden and GaGa are alike to me because they both express individualism. They do not conform to what people expect of them. But they are very different because Holden is rather lazy and won't do anything to try and change the society, and Lady GaGa will! Society can never be set either because we have new technology and new everything being thrown at us and we need to adjust and accept what is happening. Of course if it is a bad thing that is happening we must try to stop that. Society is also never set in stone because there are those people who are individuals like Holden and Lady GaGa that will never ever ever in a million years conform to society. In Holdens case he will rebel until he can not rebel any more. He will do the opposite of everyone else, while judging and criticizing. Although, i do think that there are some things in society that will never be altered. Like the judging and criticism. because that is almost human nature to judge things.
