Pulling the Trigger

I'm reading Trigger, a book about a seventeen year old named Jersey who is a 4.0 GPA student, a star football and golf player, and a ROTC recruit. He has a loving family and good friends. He had everything going for him, until one day he decided to kill himself with his own father's handgun for whatever reason. Only, something went wrong in his attempt, he lives while blowing out a sizable chuck of his brain. Now, after seven months in hospital, mental, and physical therapy, he is to come home and try to pick up where he left off. He has trouble walking and remembering things that happened within a year of when he shot himself, as if he blew it all out with that one bullet. Now he was to figure out why he did it in the first place, why his mother will barely talk to him, and why his used to be best friend, Todd, hates him. The only two people who really try to help him is Todd's sister and his grandma for whatever reason they have. With the odds against him and a half working brain, Jersey has to work through social and emotional pressures to get the answers he's looking for.
