Week 7 Josh McCarthy

My book is I am Legend and I chose it because I saw the movie and I loved it. The book is quite different though as it is based in the year 1976, and the book was actually written in the 1950s. The book is written by Robert Matheson, and so far is quite good. Robert Neville is the main character, and in fact, the only character as he is the only one left in a world full of zombies. The only other character in a zombie named Ben who happens to know Neville somehow unknown to the reader. It makes it personal to Neville in the fact that he someday wants to kill Ben. Ben likes to yell at Robert at night, and try to get him to come out. I believe part of the reason why Robert has lasted so long is because he used to be in the army, which he has hinted at a couple of times. It has hinted at his experiences in war in Panama, which proves how much bravery and courage he must have to fight off the zombies for so long. He is comparable to Holden from Catcher in the Rye in the way that he is alone in the world. The reason Holden is alone though, is because of his choice to be alone, but Robert didn't even have a choice. Holden is an insane person in a sane world and Robert is a sane person in an insane world, so it's the exact opposite.
