Slam!
My novel of choice is called "Slam!". The book is written by Walter Dean Myers. I chose this book because it has to do with basketball and I really really enjoy the game of basketball. I love watching basketball and I love playing it. It is a very fun game to play. I also like reading about basketball which is why I chose this book. I am not the biggest reader bunt sports books can hold my attention. That is why I chose this book. I knew that if I had read a sports related book than the book would be much easier for me to read. So far, the book is about a senior in high school who goes by the name of Slam. He recently moved to a new school in New York city. He currently tried out for the basketball team and daily makes it. He then goes to hang out with two of his best friends from his old school named Ice and Mtisha. Ice is a star basketball player at Slam's old school. He has been playing there for awhile and Slam thinks that he has serious potential to make it to the next level to play basketball. Mtisha is this girl that Slam likes and they are very good friends. Then Mtisha informs Slam that she is worried about Ice. She said that ever since Slam moved the new school, things had been different for Ice. She thinks that she as seen Ice dealing every once in awhile and that makes her nervous. She wants Slam to talk to him but Slam doesn't think that Ice would ever do such a thing but he is still worried. So, so far, the book is pretty interesting and it is definitely holding my interest.

Hi Bellis,I also enjoy basketball and reading about basketball. The book im currently reading is also about sports, so it is a little easier for me to focus because i have such a passion for sports. In your book Slam, there seems to be a drug problem. In my free choice novel, Open, there is also a brief period in which drugs become a major issue in the novel. The difference between our novels is that Slam thinks he has the potential to make it to the next level, and works very hard to make it.In my book, Open, Andre Agassi has the potential to be the number 1 player in the world, he however has no passion for tennis and wishes he could go out for soccer. His father would never allow this, as he believes Andre will be the best player in thew world and one of the best to ever live.
