In my book Perks of Being a Wallflower a lot of interesting things have happened to the main character Charlie. Growing up in high school isnt easy, especially as a freshman. Charlie becomes really good friends with two seniors, Sam and Patrick. Charlie is in love with Sam and even though Sam tells Charlie she loves him, she can't really be with him and its more of a friendship love. Patrick is gay, but he has a girlfriend as a coverup. Sam and Patrick expose Charlie to sex and drugs. They take him to a party where he gets high. They also lead him to his everyday smoking habits. They might be bad influences on them, but Charlie doesn't know any better. Charlie's sister gets pregnant and her boyfriend leaves her to deal with it. So Charlie takes her sister to the clinic to get an abortion. They end up getting really close with one another. Charlie seems to be really lost in the world. He does LSD one day because he is so depressed and he smokes everyday. At his young age he has already made so many bad decisions but he doesn't have anyone to tell him to stop. His sister steps in though and tells him to stop smoking.
I really enjoy this book so far, and I haven't wanted to stop reading it. Charlie is a very interesting character with a lot of life problems. He is slowly learning right from wrong. I can really relate to this book as any other high school could. We have to deal with the peer pressure everyday and it can be really hard. Some of us even deal with the serious relationship problems. High school should be fun, and we shouldn't have to worry about the hardships. This book has really taught me a lot about how different people's lives can be after one major catastrophe.
