gender is power?

Gender is an important part of the novel of mice and men. Without the use of gender differentiation in the novel a powerful message would be lost and the meaning and worth of the novel diminished, and the already miniscule pull of attention lessened. In the novel gender is one of the two main factors that determine who holds the power in the world. Men hold the power, women hold nothing. The other factor is race. White men hold the power while black men hold less than white women. This is because of the time period in which the novel of mice and men takes place. During this time period women have nothing and non white residents in the novel have less than nothing. While there is a chance for the non white persons within the novel to change this hierarchy there is absolutely nothing at all that women are capable of doing to make any sort of changes. And I believe that this is because men fear what the world may become if women were in charge. Men fear not being in control and men fear change. That is why men wouldn’t and still don’t give up their power to women.
