Lets grow up!
Everybody has to grow up eventually even if they do not want to. In The Catcher In The Rye, even though Holden was basically on his own through the book he had to do some growing up when he had to live by himself and pay for everything that he needed. Someday soon even we will have to do the same when we go off to college and have to find a job to pay for our own belongings. Holden also shows a sign of growing up when he goes home to see his sister and tell her what was going on with him. We can not hide from those we love and tell them things are okay when they are not. Eventually when we grow up we learn to take on certain responsibilities in our lives and that includes making up for things we did in the past that were wrong to do. Holden is some ways does that by putting himself in a psychiatric hospital. He knew that the things he did in his past were not the best for him and he wanted to get better for himself. We have to learn to take care of ourselves, especially when we are on our own. Hopefully now with the help that Holden gets he will learn to grow up more and understand that the lies he created in the past were not the best for his mental state. Hopefully Holden will grow up and go back to school and learn something more about growing up to be a better, honest person.
