Week 7, Tyler P

The novel I chose to explore is called Heaven is for real. This story was written by Todd Burpo and was New York Times best seller in 2010. I chose to dig deeper to what this story is about because my mom recommended this book to me and said I would enjoy it. Heaven is for real is a true story about a young boy, Colton, who is 10 years old and needs to have a life-threatening surgery in order to keep his life. This story connects to all of the books we have read in a few ways such as dreams, hope, and especially the fact that Heaven and our world isn't a fake place. As I read the other novels no of them really had a true connection with me simply because the characters were so different than I am. I tried to chose a novel that I could hopefully relate to and possibly learn a lesson from. Heaven is for Real digs deeper into the thought of belief and what it means to believe in something, especially yourself. I think by reading this book I can actually enjoy reading something that I normally wouldn't. This should help in my overall liking of Senior English and to become a better reader.
