growing up peter v #6

Everyone wishes they could be young forever. When you are young you have no responsibility, and nothing to worry about. Your only responsibility is to goof around and have as much fun as possible. Unfortunately there is a point in life where everyone needs to grow up. Sometimes they are ready, other times they are not. In the novel Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger, the main character Holden is not ready to grow up. I think this is because before some one grows up they must experience childhood where their parents do everything for them and they do not need to act grown up. Holden never experienced childhood in this way so he is not ready to grow up and he also does not want to grow up. He fails his classes, gets kicked out of school, and also gets yelled at by his less than appreciative parents over and over again. Holdens parents never encouraged him in the right way and this lead to his very negative attitude. Because of this Holden will really struggle in life. If he can not grow up and become more mature, he will not fit in with society or be successful in life.

  1. i know i wish i could be forever young, but we cant be and we must accept this. i agress with the fact that being young is easer because we have less to worrie about and holden has this same issue, he doesnt want to grow up. and if holden didnt experience a choldhood, this is all the more why he doesnt want to do so.
