Living By Society

We must deal with the ways of society, even if we disagree with them, in order not to seclude ourselves from it because society makes us who we are; good or bad. In “Cather and the Rye” Holden rebels against society by running away from another school he flunked out of and he did not have a good time at all. He became lonely and depressed and because of that he was sort of sick, in a way. Whenever people do not follow what society wants them to, it becomes total chaos. For example, the Libyans rebelled against their society’s rules, religion and leader which then became heard all around the world because it is something that should not happen even though that is what a lot of countries have done in the past few years. In a way when Holden judged everyone by how they cheered for people that was acting like phonies, when he should have done the same thing. In high school it is just the same. When someone or multiple people act out, everyone reacts the same way which could be bad or good, depending on the subject matter. We are pretty much supposed to do the thing, most of the time, that everyone else is doing or we will be made fun of or looked down upon.
