Holden rebels against the norm in life he feels that doing what everyone else does is silly he is a person that likes to go against the grain. The reason I feel that Holden always rebels against society is because he feels that doing the same thing over and over again the repetitiveness of life is boring and a waste of his time and if he goes along with it he feels he is wasting others time as well so he figures why not do the unexpected and have a little controversy in life. The effect that his rebelling has on himself is that he is wasting a great education that he could very well get if he applied himself. He is also not making any friends because he thinks that, that is what is the norm and he does not want to be normal he wants things in life to be different for himself and for those around him. That leads to the effect that Holden's rebellion has on those around him the people that have to deal with trying to get to know a guy that would rather just be by himself or at least that's what is portrayed to us and we get to see the other side of things where Holden ends up just being lonely. Well sucks for him.
