As of right now, there is no movie for us to watch after we finish reading, The Catcher in the Rye. Is there a connection that you've made that you'd like to share with the class?
I have inter-textual for our group discussion tomorrow and I had a hard time finding a movie to relate to The Catcher in the Rye.
I think Tuck Everlasting would relate well, though, since Winnie comes from a wealthy family, is rebellious, and considers not returning home. It goes along with the rebellion theme we have been talking about, and it explores more of the psychological side. The theme is pretty obvious, since it is set in the turn of the century, but the movie eludes to the present also.
Something a little more literal would probably be Big Fat Liar (since he is self-absorbed and addicted to lying, hence the name). The movie is directed towards younger audiences though, so it would probably have to be voted on.
