just a little effort

I think Holden is rebelling against trying in general, or in other words he is being lazy.  Holden never tries to do well in school and because of that he is always being kicked out of schools.  I believe Pencey School is his third that he is gotten kicked out of and the reason was because he wasn’t doing well academically.    Holden’s whole family is super smart and so I believe he has the potential to be smart too, he just isn’t willing to put in the effort that it takes.  Whenever it comes to girls, Holden never wants to do anything, and he says he is never in the mood and that you have to be in the right mood.  Every time he has the chance to talk with a girl or have sex, he always makes up some excuse not to do it and is able to wiggle himself out of it.  Again, he never wants to do anything because he is too lazy.  Whenever, it comes to fights, Holden never really wants to get into them, which is why he calls himself “yellow” because he able to stand up for himself, but if there was a fight, he never wants to start it because he knows he’ll lose and plus he is too lazy to do anything.   This affects him because he is a loner all the time because he isn’t willing to make friends either and friends help you to get through the tuff times.
