What I Noticed

While reading The Catcher in the Rye the thing I noticed the most was Holden kept referring to the ducks in pond in Central Park. The question he would ask people about the ducks is "where do the ducks go in the winter?" Now to the people he asked they thought he was crazy because everyone knows where the ducks go in the winter. However the people he asked never gave him a straight forward answer. Now we all know the answer that they go south for the winter. The reason that the taxi cab drivers, he asked the question to, were unable to give him a straight forward answer is because they represented the uneasiness that Holden has in his own life. Now the reason that Holden is so attached to the ducks and trying to figure out where they go in the winter is because, Holden is lost himself and doesn't know where he should go. So he asks someone else where they go so maybe it will give him an idea of where he should go and what he should do with his life. The reason that Holden wants to go away so bad is because he doesn't enjoy his family because of his parents don't care about him and what he does with his life.
